A group of female buyers from major Japanese beef importers recently visited the U.S. to gain firsthand insight into American beef production. Organized by the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF), the tour began at USMEF headquarters in Denver and included stops in Kansas and Idaho.
The group toured the National Beef processing plant in Dodge City, Kansas, and True West Beef in Jerome, Idaho. They also visited a ranch and feedlot in Idaho and met with representatives from the Idaho Beef Council, Washington State Beef Commission, and Oregon Beef Council.
The buyers observed retail merchandising trends and dined at restaurants serving grain-fed American beef, enhancing their understanding of the U.S. beef supply chain. For most, it was their first visit to U.S. cattle operations, leaving them impressed by the industry’s dedication to quality and safety.
The visit was supported by the Idaho Beef Council, Washington State Beef Commission, the Beef Checkoff Program, and USDA’s Regional Agricultural Promotion Program.
