A Little Britain resident has been fined for operating as a livestock dealer without the proper licence, following an investigation by Ontario’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness.

Allan Stirling, of 590 Eldon Road, was convicted on January 27, 2025, in Lindsay Provincial Offences Court after pleading guilty to violating section 2(a) of the Livestock and Livestock Products Act.

The investigation revealed that between May 11 and August 3, 2024, Stirling bought and sold more than 40 cattle without holding a valid livestock dealer licence, as required under provincial law.

The offence was uncovered during an unrelated investigation, which led the ministry’s Regulatory Compliance Unit to examine Stirling’s activities. Their findings confirmed he was actively dealing in livestock without authorization.

Stirling received a $2,000 fine, along with a 25% victim fine surcharge, bringing the total penalty to $2,500.
