Tyson Foods has announced that it will end operations at its beef processing facility in Lexington, Nebraska, as part of changes to its beef production network. The company says the decision is intended to “right size” its beef business and support long-term planning.
In addition to the Nebraska closure, Tyson will convert its Amarillo, Texas, beef facility to a single, full-capacity shift. To maintain customer supply, the company will increase production at other Tyson beef plants.
Tyson noted that it is aware of the impact on employees and local communities. The company stated it will support staff during the transition, including assistance in applying for open positions at other Tyson locations and offering relocation benefits where applicable.
According to the company, these adjustments are part of its plan to continue supplying “high-quality, affordable, and nutritious protein.”
