As previously shared, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) suspended the Safe Food for Canadians licence #3WYHVFPD (Est. 99) of Ryding-Regency Meat Packers LTD. on September 20, 2019.

Unfortunately, no resolution in response to the suspension announcement can be shared at this time. BFO has been in weekly contact with CFIA, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and our provincial government, in addition to Ryding-Regency management. We continue to emphasize the need for an expedited process to assist the establishment in rectifying the noted gaps in food safety protocols.

BFO and the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association (CCA) recently secured access to an external food safety expert to assist Ryding in the review and possible implementation of their Corrective Action Plan. We are doing everything in our power to provide assistance in this matter.

Given the uncertainties that exist, we strongly advise members to seek alternative harvesting arrangements for existing inventory, if arrangements have not already been made at other establishments. Please reach out to our office if you are experiencing difficulty in securing alternative marketing arrangements.
