The Cattlemen’s Young Leaders (CYL) Mentorship Program is pleased to announce its 2020 mentor pairings. Each year, 16 program participants are paired with a hand-picked industry leader in their specific area of interest for a nine-month mentorship tailored for professional and personal growth within the Canadian beef industry.
There is an exciting array of mentorship focus areas this year, ranging from grazing management to public trust, livestock handling and welfare, industry policy, and much more.
“It’s humbling to have such a well-accomplished group of industry leaders step forward and invest their time and resources to help young people build their careers in the beef industry,” said Bob Lowe, Canadian Cattlemen’s Association (CCA) President. “Thank you to all of this year’s mentors for your generous contribution and we look forward to the year ahead.”

“Over the years, it’s gratifying to see these young leaders ascend into various leadership positions in the industry, which would not be possible without the support and training provided by the mentors,” said Dennis Laycraft, CCA Executive Vice President. “A special note of thanks to our past and present mentors for the important role they’ve played in building a strong future for the Canadian beef industry.”
The formal portion of these mentorships will conclude at the end of July 2021, however, many of these relationships established through the CYL Program continue for years to come.

About the CYL Program
The CYL Program is a national initiative of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association which provides young people ages 18-35 with industry specific training and mentorship opportunities. Through networking, travel and mentorship, participants are equipped with the skills they need to further the success of the Canadian beef industry in the future.
