The Iowa Beef Industry Council (IBIC) announced Dr. Chris Clark, a Beef Extension Specialist at Iowa State University, as the recipient of the 2024 Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) Educator Award during the Iowa Cattle Industry Convention on December 12 in Ames, Iowa.
Dr. Clark was recognized for his leadership in advancing the BQA program, which equips producers with practical and science-based practices to enhance cattle management, food safety, and beef quality. A graduate of Iowa State’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Clark revitalized the BQA curriculum in 2023-2024, working closely with the Iowa Beef Center and IBIC to create impactful, producer-focused certification sessions.
“His producer-first mentality and attention to detail demonstrate his dedication to helping Iowa’s beef producers succeed,” said Casey Anderson, State BQA Coordinator.
Dr. Clark’s roots in agriculture trace back to his family farm in Monroe County, where he developed a passion for beef cattle through 4-H. His veterinary expertise and practical approach have made BQA certification more accessible and beneficial for producers statewide.
