Oklahoma Ranch Manager Arrested on 83 Felony Charges for Livestock Theft

A 60-year-old Stuart, Oklahoma man, Darrel Bernard Morris, was arrested on January 8 by Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association Special Rangers Cody Hyde and Gavin Gatrell. Morris faces 83 felony charges of livestock larceny after allegedly stealing cattle from his employer.

The investigation, led by Special Ranger Hyde, began in December 2024 following reports and evidence suggesting Morris, a ranch manager in Hughes County, Oklahoma, had unlawfully sold 83 yearling cattle between January 2023 and December 2024.

According to findings, Morris transported the stolen livestock to multiple auctions, where he sold them, netting over $108,000 in total.

Special Rangers apprehended Morris at his residence, and he now faces prosecution on felony charges.

The Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association expressed gratitude to the Hughes County District Attorney’s Office for their collaboration in bringing this case to justice. This incident highlights the importance of vigilance and partnership in protecting the livestock industry from criminal activity.
