2024 Inductees

This year’s honorees exemplify dedication and innovation across various fields of agriculture:

  • Dr. Kee Jim (Okotoks) – A trailblazer in feedlot cattle health, Dr. Jim revolutionized data-driven livestock management. As the founder of Feedlot Health Management Services (FHMS), his methodologies improved disease protocols, efficiency, and profitability across Alberta’s cattle industry. His ventures, including the G.K. Jim Group of Companies, have made a substantial impact in North America, with ongoing innovations in feedlot technology and sustainability.
  • Manfred Kanehl (Parkland County, Posthumous Inductee) – A key figure in advancing food safety, Manfred was instrumental in the creation of the Start Clean – Stay Clean program, which remains a national standard in the egg industry. His contributions to animal welfare, education, and community initiatives reflect a lifelong commitment to agricultural excellence. His legacy continues through his family, with his daughter leading Alberta Egg Producers.
  • Blair Roth (Lethbridge) – A dedicated advocate for special crops, Blair played a pivotal role in developing Alberta’s pulse and specialty crop industries. From spearheading agronomic research to establishing grower associations and securing critical pesticide registrations, his efforts have had lasting impacts on farmers across Canada. Even in retirement, he continues to mentor the next generation of agricultural leaders.

Selection Process and Eligibility

The Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation department oversees the Hall of Fame’s induction process, appointing a selection panel that represents a cross-section of industry professionals. Up to three individuals are inducted every two years based on their leadership and province-wide influence. Candidates must be nominated by three individuals (excluding immediate family members), with supporting letters detailing their contributions.
