Nutrien Ag Solutions Expands Innovation Farm in Champaign to Advance Agricultural Research

Nutrien Ag Solutions is strengthening its commitment to agricultural research and technology with a new facility at its Innovation Farm in Champaign, Illinois. The space serves as a hub for training, collaboration, and customer engagement, helping to bridge the gap between research and real-world farming.

Since moving in last November, the farm’s 16-person team—made up of agronomic experts—has already hosted 18 events. The facility is designed to accelerate the adoption of new farming technology, integrating products, practices, and precision tools to provide better solutions for growers across the U.S. and Canada.

At the heart of the Innovation Farm’s mission is hands-on research. The team conducts field trials to refine recommendations for agronomists and crop consultants. By showcasing advanced tools such as precision-enabled machinery, drones, and proprietary products, the farm demonstrates how technology can improve productivity and sustainability.

Nutrien acquired the 282-acre site in 2019 with a vision of transforming it into a center for agricultural innovation. Over the past six years, the team has cultivated the land, run extensive trials, and even supported an award-winning FFA student project.

On March 20, a ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the beginning of this new chapter. Employees, growers, industry partners, legislators, and agricultural media gathered to tour the farm, explore its latest advancements, and see firsthand how Nutrien is driving innovation in modern farming.
