Register today for the event held July 7 – Aug. 4, 2020
Nebraska Extension, Lallemand Animal Nutrition and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach are hosting the third Silage for Beef Cattle Conference with one major change: this year, the event will be a series of four, hour-long free webinars held from July 7 through Aug. 4, 2020.
In previous years, the conference was held near Mead, Nebraska. While the event has always offered an online streaming option, this year it will be online only. The information promises to be just as valuable and timely. Attendees will learn how to maximize one of the largest components of many beef producers’ bottom lines: silage.
Topics and speakers will include:
· Silage production and the impacts of dry weather and limited water, led by Jourdan Bell, Ph.D., assistant professor and agronomist, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Research at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday July 7, 2020
· How to harvest under adverse conditions, with Renato Schmidt, Ph.D., Technical Services – Forage, Lallemand Animal Nutrition at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2020
· Tips and tricks for silage pile construction, led by Becky Arnold, Territory Business Manager, Lallemand Animal Nutrition at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 28
· Silage feeding and management for beef cattle in the current environment, with Galen Erickson, Ph.D., professor, University of Nebraska – Lincoln at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 4
Click here to register for individual, or all, webinar sessions at no cost.
“We hope the online option opens up the conference to beef producers who weren’t able to attend previous events in person,” Schmidt says. “Right now, there’s no better time to focus on reducing the expense of feeding cattle while maintaining gains. Producers can make a big impact on the final margin by improving silage harvest, management and feeding. I look forward to a great discussion during the webinar series with producers from across the country.”
