U.S. Trade (U.S. funds)

The U.S. cash cattle trade is quiet this morning as both sides take inventory and new show lists are distributed. Both bids and asking prices are unestablished at this time but are expected to be steady to higher than last week. Packers this week will be buying for a holiday shortened week next week.  Last week the north was at a premium to the south and some southern cattle were being picked up by the nothern packers. Live prices in the south were mainly $137.00-$138.00 live down around $1.00 from the previous week with live trade in then north from $146.00-$150.00. But the largest price increase was on the dressed cattle in the north which had a wide trading range of $230.00-$240.00 averaging around $234.00 up $4.00 cwt. Sellers will be looking for stronger prices this week.
