Three new maternal EPDs were released by the American Angus Association® on May 23, 2025, alongside annual economic assumption updates to the National Cattle Evaluation.
The three new maternal EPDs – Functional Longevity (FL), Teat Size (Teat) and Udder Suspension (UDDR) are now available on all registered Angus cattle with a phenotype or genotype on file.
The Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M) and Combined Value ($C) Indexes have been updated to include the new traits. Updates were also applied to the models for the Heifer
Pregnancy (HP) EPD and feed efficiency.
Updates to genomic scores, which will include the addition of FL, Teat, and UDDR traits, will be released on June 27.
